Avon Lake's Stross Is One Of Ohio's Best

Posted Mar 9, 2004

Avon Lake's Trey Stross is a fine looking WR prospect and will be rated as one of the state's top players at his position this year.

Trey Stross of Avon Lake, OH is one of the state's top two-way performers. The 6-3, 190 pound Stross was instrumental in Avon Lake's Division II state championship season last year as he stood out at both WR and DB.

Stross is an impressive athlete, and his marks just recently improved as well.

"Last Saturday I tested out in my vertical, 40, pro agility and bench," he said. "Here's how I improved:

"Documented and Official Results
4.03 Pro Agility
4.46 40
35'' Vertical
benched 185-18 reps and 225-7"

Right now, Stross is getting attention from some of the nation's top programs.

"I have a very high interest in Ohio State and also have been getting recruited by Iowa, Maryland, Penn State, Florida State, Illinois, Purdue, Tennessee, Alabama, and West Virginia," he said.

"My top 5 in order is Ohio State, Florida State, Penn State, West Virginia, Tennessee."

Stross had 28 receptions for 721 yards (25.8 avg) and 10 TDs last year. He was named first team All-District and honorable mention All-Ohio.
